What follows is a list of words and abbreviations often used by insurance claims adjusters and attorneys. An understanding should make you feel more comfortable.

Your Automobile Accident Insurance Policy:

Liability - If you are responsible for an auto accident, this is how much your insurance company will pay for all of the injured people’s bodily injuries. For example, the term 15/30 means that your own insurance company will pay any one person that is injured up to $15,000 and all of the people no more than $30,000. You can apply the same numbers to 25/50, 50/100, 100/300.

Uninsured, AKA: “UM” Coverage - Insurance coverage sold by your own car accident insurance company to cover you for bodily injuries caused by another person to the passengers in your car and you if the responsible person has no insurance. Our belief is that the risk most of our clients face is being in an automobile accident. Think about it, if you can not make money or take care of your family due to an automobile accident, what are you going to do if the responsible party has no insurance to pay your medical bills, loss of income, for your pain and suffering, for wrongful death, or your injuries.
